Founded 1865

A Methodist congregation existed in Hickory as early as 1859. However, the earliest recording of an organized Methodist church in Hickory Tavern Township was in 1865, meeting on the second floor of an "academy" now identified as 116 First Avenue, SE. The Methodists erected the first church building in Hickory in 1871.

A second plan was started in 1896 and completed in 1899, with an Education wing being erected in 1939. On Sunday, August 17, 1952, the congregation moved into our present facility.

As our forefathers and foremothers were persons of faith, let it be also said that we are a people committed to our faith. As they made sacrifices that the Church might become a more effective instrument for the redemption of our community and our world.
