Scouting Ministries

Monday is Scouting night at First Church, and for several hours the church transforms into the meeting place for over 100 active youth in various levels of the Boy and Girl Scout programs.

Scouting is about fun with a purpose.  Whether camping, hiking, fishing, shooting BB guns, making crafts, racing Pinewood Derby cars or learning outdoor skills, it is all part of a broader mission – to help young people build character, learn citizenship and become leaders in a world that desperately needs them.

From its inception over a century ago, Scouting has been a faith-based movement.  “A Scout is Reverent” is the final point of the Boy Scout Law.  Scout’s earliest leaders recognized that for young people to build character that it must be based on a strong foundation of faith.  The United Methodist Church is the second largest supporter of Scouting across the nation, and First Church is proud to be the home of Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 234 and Girl Scout Troop 10306.
