Bob Roach
Senior Pastor
The Rev. Mr. Roach is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke Divinity School. For 32 years Rev. Roach has served full-time as a United Methodist Minister in several areas of the Western North Carolina Conference. He served as a member of the Western North Carolina Board of Ordained Ministry for 16 years.
Beyond the local church, Bob has served on the Duke Convocation Board of Managers, Burke Council on Alcohol and Chemical Dependency, Rotary International, Givens Estates Board of Directors, and WNCC Brotherhood/Sisterhood Board of Directors. He was recently appointed to the WNCC Committee on the Episcopacy.
A lifelong Methodist, the Rev. Mr. Roach is the grandson and great-great grandson of Methodist ministers. He and his wife Rebecca have two children, Ryan and Beth, and one grandson, Teague. Bob enjoys golf, music, walking, watercolor painting, and birding.
Earlynne Bartley
Minister of Membership Cultivation and Congregational Care
Earlynne was born in Galax, VA, and has lived across the United States. She received an Assoc. Degree in Nursing from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. She was a licensed nurse for nine years serving in cardiac intensive care and post-anesthesia care units.
In 1997, she received a B.S. degree form Gardner Webb in human services; and in 2001 received her Master of Divinity from the Divinity School at Duke University.
Since then she has served several churches and was ordained an Elder in 2004. She was appointed to First in August of 2004. She has served as a hospital chaplain at Duke University Medical Center and as a retreat leader/ speaker in North Carolina and West Virginia.
Earlynne has one son, Chandler who attends High School in Hickory. She and Chandler reside with their dog, “Duke.”
Sandy Jahn
Director of Christian Education
Sandy has been a member of First United Methodist Church for nearly 23 years.
Much of her experience in Christian Education comes from her years as a
volunteer Sunday School teacher, children's coordinator, Vacation Bible School
director, Sunday School superintendent, and youth counselor. She joined the
staff as a secretary in 1995 and became the Director of Christian Education in
January of 1997. Sandy has a Bachelor's Degree in History from Lenoir-Rhyne
College and has completed graduate work in Christian Education at Pfeiffer
University. She has received certification from the United Methodist Church as
an Associate of Christian Education. Sandy holds membership in the National and
Western N.C. Conference Christian Educators Fellowship and participates in
national, conference, and district Christian Education seminars and training
events. She is a member of the Statesville District Committee on the
Superintendency and the District Ministries Advisory Committee and also serves
as chairperson of the District Leadership Conference Committee. Sandy and her
husband Tom have four grown children, Jackie, Michael, Jennifer, and
Christopher, and three grandchildren.

Dana Chrismon
Financial Secretary
Dana works part-time at First United Methodist in her position of Financial
Secretary and is from Greenville, SC. She received a B.S. in Accounting from
Clemson University in 1984. She joined the staff of First United Methodist in
1998, but has been a member of the church since 1988. Dana lives in Conover with
her husband Robert and two children, Austin and Auburn. Dana is a Girl Scout
leader and also works as the Treasurer of the Boy Scout Troop her sons attend.

Director, Preschool Staff
Cathy is Director of the Weekday Nursery School and
holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood from Limestone College. She has
been a member of First Church for 17 years, taught preschool in the Weekday
Nursery for 2 years, and became Director in 1994. Cathy supervises a staff of
(8) eight who serve 43 children a day for children ranging in age from 10 months
through 4 years. Cathy and her husband, John, have one daughter, Gwyn, who
attends Elon University.
