PEAK YOUTH

PEAK Youth includes 6th-12th graders who attend several different middle and high schools and have a wide variety of interests and passions. PEAK meets weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays throughout the school year plus special events and mission trips during the summer. Many of our youth stay involved at FUMC whether helping at VBS, participating in worship, singing in the choir or the praise band, sharing their gift of art or a musical instrument, or helping with the many mission projects happening at church.

Why PEAK? While we’re with our youth group, whether together at church or on a mission trip, we’re on the mountaintop with God. We feel closest to God as we serve others, study the Bible, and worship together. Our name PEAK reminds us that we need to take worship with us down the mountain and into our daily routine after Sunday.

Sunday School

The weekly lesson is devoted to using scripture to help young people find their way and purpose in God’s world.  The lives of the youth and the issues they face are used to discern the meaning of God’s word for them. God’s answers to the questions that begin with “How?” and Why?” are examined in depth. Sunday School meets weekly at 10:00.

Confirmation/Junior High 6th-8th graders meet in the room below the Chapel.

Senior High 9th-12th graders meet in the senior high room located on the second floor of the atrium.

Fellowship and Study

Sundays 5-7pm: We meet in the Christian Life Center for an evening of games, music, fellowship, dinner, and a scripture discussion.

Wednesdays 6:15-7pm: Following the Wednesday night meal, PEAK youth gathers for a time of fellowship and fun either in the Community Room or on the church front lawn.

Mission Trips & Retreats

Hinton Rural Life Center is our senior high mission trip to Hayesville, NC. We work closely with other youth groups to do home repair in Clay and Cherokee Counties.

COOL (Christians Out Offering Love) is our junior high mission camp during the summer. We stay at FUMC, serve others in our community, worship together, play games, and grow in our faith.

Retreats occur throughout the school year for both junior high and senior high youth.

We also have time throughout the year for trips to Carowinds, bowling, swimming, hiking, movies—we’re open to about anything that encourages Christian fellowship.
