Parable Garden
Garden
The Parable Garden is the original piece of our creation care ministry. Through the efforts of our own members, volunteers from the community, and the Master Gardener program, we provide food to the Hickory Soup Kitchen, our homebound members, and various other ministries. We have two garden sites, one located behind our main campus and the other located off Huffman Cove Rd. Chickens
The “First Ladies” were added to the Parable Garden two years ago. The eggs we receive from the hens are given to the Salvation Army as well as many of our homebound members. Southwest Cub Camp
FUMC has partnered with Southwest Primary School to offer tutoring to 20 students on Wednesday afternoons. Volunteers are on hand to greet the students when they arrive. After a time of snacks and play, students receive small group help with reading, math, and homework. Pick up time is 5:30. The Vine Contemporary Worship
There are many ways to get involved in The Vine worship service. Opportunities to serve include:
- Music Ministry
- Tech Ministry (soundboard, slides, video)
- Stage design and decorating
- Reading scripture and leading prayer during worship
- Non-musical worship arts (i.e. poetry/spoken word, dance, visual art)
- Hospitality (greeting people, passing out bulletins, preparing/serving food & beverages)

Caring Corner
Caring Corner Crafts & Gifts is a boutique with unique gifts and homemade items housed in the Community Room at First United Methodist Church in Hickory. All proceeds benefit the Missions. To volunteer in the store please contact Payton. (Payton@firstumchickory.org)
